Black Art Matters: Celebration with Intention with Ello

Our friends at Ello are back with their annual Black Art Matters campaign for Black History Month!

Happy February! It’s one of our favorite months of the year.

Our friends at Ello are back with their annual Black Art Matters campaign for Black History Month! This year, our goal and theme is exercising “Celebration with Intention”. After one of the most uncertain years we’ve experienced in recent memory, we want to take a beat to celebrate meaningfully and with purpose.

The cast of curators is truly impressive, featuring a long time member of the Zooppa community, our very own Jamal Peters. We’re also super excited to get to know more about art educator and muralist Ashley-Simone McKenzie, illustrator and designer Thomcat23, and journalist and founder of Black Women Photographers, Polly Irungu!

Meet the curators, register for the livestream interviews throughout the month and keep your eyes peeled for all the awesome content we’ve got scheduled for the month.

That’s not all, we’ve also launched a creative brief for Black Art Matters!

We want to know: How are you practicing Celebration with Intention? Submit your work, in any medium, pre-existing or newly created, showing us how you are celebrating Black History Month meaningfully. 10 selected pieces of work will be featured for BAM 2021!

We’re super excited to join in on the celebration with our friends at Ello and hope you will join us!

Register for Jamal Peters’ Livestream interview on Zoom or tune in live Monday, February 8th at 7PM EST on TLNT socials to join in on the fun! Can’t make it? Make sure you try to catch the other ones we have scheduled too!
