So, where's the URL?

I have noticed that SO MANY ads are missing the web address (“call to action”) for the client. We have to incorporate this information into any print ad we submit. I always open ads to full screen, just to see if someone snuck it in somewhere – a creative place or something – but the information is frequently missing. An ad is not complete without this information, well, in this present day. Clients want their logo, and their website on their ads … even if we put it in a non-traditional location … so potential customers can make contact. (Think of how ineffective our Sun Essentials ads are if we don’t have the Sun Essentials website listed – and the correct one, at that.)

I just think we all should make sure our ads are complete, and the best work that we can produce. Just a thought – comments are, of course, welcome. LB

If it’s in the brief I agree, but if not, then I don’t agree.

I wouldn’t put a url in unless the brief specifically asks for it. :)

Turn on your TV and see how many have an obvious CTA & link at the end- many of them don’t.

I was referring specifically to print ads, which I mentioned above. I don’t make, or know anything about video, so I did not attempt to be a judge of that. The Thun competition did not supply a URL in the brief, so I can understand if people do not have that in their ads … but in the case of the other competitions, including Zooppa – which is now closed – I believe that we should have that information. Just because it is not in the brief, that does not mean that it is not necessary.

well many of the “ads” are people finding an image on google then dropping the logo on it, probably to boost their votes on another account.

absolutely agreed … couldn’t agreed with you more. There is another forum post discussing this (somewhere – my memory is bad – cauthier commented in it, so he would know). But I think some of us will agree that using images from Google and pasting stuff on top opens up a secondary issue: the copyright issue. My only point here is directed towards those of us who are trying to actually produce good, presentable ads that fill the brief, and satisfy Zooppa’s rules as well. That should be the goal for all of us – right?
