You’ve spent a lot of time and effort creating your masterpiece. Now it’s time to go out into the world and get the promotional buzz you deserve!
I’ve put together a list of ways that you can reach out to friends and family, neighbors and colleagues and other creative types that will really dig what you’ve spent so much time creating:
Take advantage of the networks you are already part of.
You say you have 853 friends on Facebook or Myspace? Why not post your contest entry there as well and get the support of your friends!
Do you have Youtube account? A Vimeo account? A Google Video account?
If so, USE it! You will get a ton of exposure this way and get people to come to Zopppa and vote for your work!
If you don’t have an account with any video websites you should consider it. It is a great way to get more involved in the film making community and to build an online portfolio that will get you noticed.
Tubemogul it baby!
For ultimate self-promotion check out Tubemogul.com where you can set up your director page and deploy your video to 15+ video sharing websites with a click of your mouse!
Dig making videos? Submit your videos to Digg!
Digg and Del.icoi.us are excellent tools for getting your video to go viral. Submit your work on Digg or Del.icio.us and get your friends to Digg or bookmark your work as well. Hey you might even end on the fantastic front page of Digg and get an avalanche of attention!
Now that you are gearing up to promote your incredible work, here are tips to make sure you get the most our of it!
Tag your videos.
This may seem like ‘duh I know,’ but it can’t be stressed enough how important it is to tag your videos so people find them. Be literal with your tags as well as a little crazy. The more tags the better!
Pick an eye-catching thumbnail.
One of the biggest reasons a person clicks on a video, is that the video has a great thumbnail image. Some video sharing websites let you choose which frame of your video you would like for the video thumbnail. Pick the most interesting colorful or bizarre thumbnail you can, and watch your video’s views shoot through the roof.
Use a catchy, interesting title.
The second reason that many people click on a video is that they see a funny, incredible or super interesting title. How can you describe your video in a way that makes people unable to resist watching it? There is a big difference between ‘Cat trick’ and ‘Cat gets caught in ceiling fan, hilarity ensues.’
Be sure to include a link to your contest entry in your video description!
without this, people may not be able to find your video at Zooppa and give you the praise you deserve.
What have I missed? What do YOU do to promote your work?
Keep up the awesome work Zooppers!
