Hey gmarcos and filmmansam,
Unfortunately, this particular contest is only open to residents of those 16 countries.
Gmarcos, have you thought about entering Siemens or Amazon? Both of those are pretty big contests, and they’re closing soon.
Filmmansam, you’re just too hot to handle! You’ve already joined both of those. We’re launching another contest in the next couple days, though, and I think claymation could be really good for it. I’ll send you an email when we’ve launched it.

Hello! May I know the list of 16 countries eligible to enter in this competition? I live in the Philippines and I don’t know if I’m qualified to join. Thanks!

Hi,
This contest sounds very interesting. I have 3 questions:
1. Can you submit a story that is completely fictional and fit for an animated short?
2. Is the top prize just a laptop, or is there any type of monetary/other prize for the person who’s story becomes an actual film for the Sundance Film Festival?
3. I’m a writer and I could create my own screenplay. How much artistic control would the story winner have over the production of the film?
Thanks for the opportunity!

I realize that during the course of the contest, the entries are under the ownership of the promoter – but what about after the contest is over? Let’s say someone enters, and wins nothing; and then 6 months later they see their idea made into a film somewhere – is this permitted? Do the submitters retain all rights to all unused, unwinning entries? If not, it’s hardly worth the gamble to submit a great story that one has been wanting to adapt for film, if by merely entering the contest and not winning the grand prize they forfeit their rights to their own story.

Hi there,
1. It can be fictional, yes.
2. The top prize for each participating country is a laptop and the grand prize is to have your story made into a short film that will be featured at Sundance. That’s all.
3. That would have to be negotiated between you and the client, Asus. I’m not sure how much creative control you will have.

That’s a good question. I will ask for greater clarification.
Thanks for the great question.

Hey there,
We’re asking for prints/pictures/designs that tell more of a story. This is why we’re including a storyboard in the materials files now!
And remember that the best entry submitted before October 5 (this encompasses video, picture, concept or audio) from each country gets a prize!
Check the brief page for more info.

Dear Zooppa Team
When I heard that Zooppa offered an opportunity to enter Sundance I swear I hear a choir sing “hallelujah” but then my dreams were dash by the fact that South Africa is not one of the countries listed. In fact we are hardly ever listed for anything I’m interested in. I’ve dedicated 2 years of my life into finding a way into the mainstream entertainment industry this involved developing a global project that I could use to not only to create a name for myself as a film maker but also to fund my future projects. This contest would have been the perfect opportunity for me to launch my career or at worst it would have allowed me to see if I am completely naive with regards to my ability as a film maker.
My request is for you to ask the sponsor’s to allow my submission, I am prepared to jump through how ever many hoops they wish me to. I know that my request would more than likely fall on deaf ears, however my insanity is fueled by my passion and desire to have the opportunity to become a storyteller.
All I am asking for is the chance to prove my worth, so please, I ask you as humbly as I can.
let me entertain you…
Thank you.

Hi Sefi,
It’s really a shame that they are not accepting submissions from so many countries. I do apologize; it’s not fair at all.
But we do have 4 other video contests, and 4 print contests on our Italy site. Please check them out!
Thanks,
Julia

Hi guys,
Yes, all the stories transfer over to the client. If you wish to keep a story that you’ve been working on for a while then do so and upload a different story here.
Thanks!

Hi,
If I have a video clip about 5mins long but under 25meg. Is it alright to submit?
And If I submit a video with overall description. Do I still need to submit Print?
Where do I submit storyboard if I also have one but is it unnecessary?
Thank you very much
