Hi Zooppa Groopp, both old and new! Have I got a new contest for you!

Here’s the basics:

We all know that the world will end in 2012, which is a kind of a bummer, but a lot of folks are curious about what exactly will cause the end of the world. We know how Roland Emmerich thinks it will happen, but is he right? How do you think it will it all go down? Create a video, up to 90 seconds in length, that depicts your version of how the world will end. You can make a complete narrative, or a movie trailer that depicts your theory.

Here’s the twist:

Feel free to be inspired by different styles of film, or by a director you admire. Is it an “indie” end of the world movie? Is it film noir? What would a Robert Altman disaster movie look like? What about Wes Anderson? Pick your favorite director or style to emulate and have fun with it. Or, if you choose, don’t emulate anybody, because we know you’re plenty talented and stylish on your own!

Here’s the point:

To have fun! That’s pretty much it! We at Zooppa wanted our own chance to judge some videos, and wanted it to be fun. There’s not a lot of prize money, but the prestige of a Zooppa award could get you a meeting with world leaders! (That last part is probably not true. But who knows, right?)

We want everybody to discuss, have fun, give tips to each other, give constructive feedback, tell each other how awesome their videos are!

I can’t wait to see what you all come up with!

Two submissions already!?!

That’s what I like to see!

There are so many of you submitting videos to the End of the World contest, that I had to make my own. You can play the new video brief at the top of the contest page, or you can watch and share this YouTube link with the world so they can join in the fun before the world goes away!

So here in Seattle we’re prepping for a whopping 7 or more inches of snow! Oh no!!!!!!!!

Maybe the world will end because of a minimal amount of snow. Here in Seattle, anything over an inch is Snow-pocalypse!

Ah the joys of a simple brief. No questions on the forum.

I’ll just hang out here and talk to myself. Anybody got any crazy production stories they want to share?

Well I’m still recovering from it, with a large apple tree lying in my backyard that still need to be cut up. However no time for yard work when I have a video to spend my weekends on.

Yard work can always wait when you’ve got creativity you can spend time on!

That storm actually was something in the end (not the end of the world of course, but worse than your average flurry). Lot’s of time at home for me staying off all those treacherous roads.

It turns out that’s not how the prize will be decided. Instead, the Zooppa team will check out all the videos and pick the ones we like the best.

Videos are currently in circulation to get opinions in the Zooppa offices, US, Italy and Brazil, and we’ll have decision made over the weekend for a Monday (3/5) announcement.
